Annual summit with Normandy, La Manche, Guernsey, Jersey in Caen (University)
On 15 September, the Normandy Region hosted the annual political summit at the University of Caen welcoming the Departmental Council of La Manche, the States of Guernsey and the Government of Jersey.
Guernsey was represented by Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez, Chief Minister of Guernsey, Deputy Steve Falla, Minister for External Relations and Deputy Marc Laine, Vice-Chair of the Economic Development Committee.
Jersey was represented by Deputy Lyndon Farnham, Chief Minister of Jersey and Deputy Kirsten Morel, Minister Delegate for the Environment. The Normandy Regional Council by its President Hervé Morin and the Manche Departmental Council was represented by its President Jean Morin.
The Prefecture of Normandy was represented by the Prefect Jean-Benoît Albertini and Guillaume Delvallée, diplomatic advisor. The Prefecture of the Manche was represented by the Prefect Marc Chappuis.
Representatives discussed topics including energy, the environment, maritime and economic links, migration rules, cultural, educational and sports exchanges. The President of the Normandy Region, Hervé Morin, also highlighted the 60 projects of the Channel Islands within “2027: European Year of the Normans” in collaboration with Normandy structures. The highlight of the summit was the announcement of the forthcoming opening of the SIVEP.
