Ille et Vilaine Artist residency in Jersey

11 September 2026
Jersey

From 11 to 30 September, the artist from Ille et Vilaine, Freya Clarke, went to Grainville School in Jersey as part of an artist residency. This project was realised thanks to the cooperation between the Government of Jersey and the Department of Ille et Vilaine. In 2024, the Jersey artist Kiera Melville was selected for a 6-week residency with 4th grade students from the Moka College in St Malo. For this new artist residency, Freya Clarke, a Franco-British artist and multidisciplinary painter specialising in colours, patterns and traditional symbols, led an art project with the Year 10 students of Grainville School. The theme of the project was “Gender equality and ending violence against woman and girls” and ended with a beautiful a representation of two murals. This project strengthens the links established between the Department of Ille et Vilaine and the Government of Jersey. An exhibition opening will follow at Le Printemps, showcasing this collaboration and the many benefits that the pupils from Grainville have gained from it.
